Lilac Wine

OK, I might as well admit it. This is now nothing more than a quote of the day repository. But maybe that is because others can put it so much better than I could ever hope for myself?

Today the award goes to Jeff with a reminder that only the good die young.

I lost myself on a cool damp night
Gave myself in that misty light
Was hypnotized by a strange delight
Under a lilac tree
I made wine from the lilac tree
Put my heart in its recipe
It makes me see what I want to see
and be what I want to be
When I think more than I want to think
Do things I never should do
I drink much more that I ought to drink
Because I brings me back you...

Rest in peace, Jeff.

(The Other) Quote of the Day

I'm not even going to justify myself again...

From Time, by way of Pedro (thanks!):

"Why is eating healthily equated with being boring when nothing could be more boring than being dead?"

Think about it perhaps next time you mindlessly make fun of a vegetarian. Or just think about it right now.

Yes, I'm picky today. But nothing could be closer to the truth than that very statement.

Quote of the Day

(I don't want this blog to become a repository for quotes only, but this one is just too good to ignore and let pass)

"The first step - especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money -- the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art."

-- Chuck Palahniuk

And while we're at it:

"Because after you've crossed some lines, you just keep crossing them."

-- Chuck Palahniuk (again)

“It’s a matter of discipline, and it starts by looking at the problem and collecting all the available information about it. If you understand the problem, you have the solution. It’s really more about logic than imagination.”

Put The Freaks Up Front

Come and feel what it does to me,
so much more than fantasy
put your panic on hold, amplify your very soul
and keep breathing.
